SNAP requirements remain in effect households must still complete recertifications, submit periodic
reports, and report changes.
Applications for SNAP are still being accepted, but households approved after Nov. 1 will not receive
benefits until funding resumes.
Public Assistance (cash benefits) is not affected and will continue to be issued.
SNAP approval notices may still be mailed, but benefits mentioned in them will not be issued until the
shutdown ends.
Fair hearings for missed benefits will not be scheduled during the shutdown.

Salvation Army
Beginning November 1, our organization will lift the 30-day limit between food pantry requests to ensure that no one is turned away during this difficult time. While SNAP benefits are suspended, we are committed to providing food to all who need it. We’ve been stockpiling non-perishable items as well as ready-to-eat foods that can be distributed to individuals who are unhoused or have limited access to cooking facilities. While we’re encouraged by the community’s support so far, we are concerned about the increased demand heading into the holiday season.
Applications for our Christmas Assistance Program including Warm the Children, Angel Tree (Toy Distribution), and Christmas Food Parcels (with a gift card for meat purchases).
Current Needs & Partnership Opportunities
Angel Tree Support: Assistance finding new groups or locations to adopt and fill angels.
Food Donations: Increased need for both pantry staples and holiday food supplies due to higher demand and expanded service hours.
Volunteers: Especially for our November 19 and November 22 food distribution events.
