SOUTH GLENS FALLS - The South Glens Falls CSD is pleased to announce that Jennifer E. Murphy-Fries will be named the new Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics. Murphy-Fries will assume the position on September 1st.
Murphy-Fries was most recently the Director of Athletics, Physical Education, Health, & Wellness at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District in Ravena, Albany County.
“I am thrilled to be joining the South Glens Falls Bulldog Team! Everyone I have met has been so welcoming and invested in the school district and community. I’m really looking forward to meeting the rest of the staff and students, and learning as much as I can about the history of the district,” Murphy-Fries said.
“The Director of Physical Education, Health, and Athletics position affords me the opportunity to utilize my previous academic, professional and organizational experiences towards the enhancement of the SGF curriculum and school programming,” she said. “Throughout my academics and employment, I have learned to adapt to an ever changing school environment where planning, organizing, supervising and handling multiple tasks occur simultaneously. I truly believe that my past experiences represent a positive advantage. I can’t wait to get started at SGF!”
Murphy-Fries additionally served as Instructional Supervisor for Physical Education, Health, and Family & Consumer Science at Bethlehem Central School District and Director of Athletics at Albany Academy for Girls. Prior to becoming an administrator, she taught physical education and health education for 8 years and served as a coach for various sports at the modified, JV and varsity levels.
Murphy-Fries received a bachelor of science in physical education K-12 from SUNY Cortland and later a Master of Science in Community Health Education from Russell Sage College. She also obtained a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Leadership K-12 from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Murphy-Fries will replace current director Matt Griep who is leaving South Glens Falls to become director of athletics at the Ballston Spa Central School District.
