Smart Bond Plan
Technology Funding Sources
2026-27 Plan
1. Smart Bond Act 2014 Summary
In November 2014, the voters of New York State approved the Smart Schools Bond Referendum. This legislation enables districts to access state funding in high-priority areas, including technology. The South Glens Falls Central School District received a $2,230,126 allocation through Smart Schools. The Smart Schools legislation allows the district to spend these funds in any of six specific areas.
Acquisition of Learning Technology
The South Glens Falls Central School District plans to transition from a localized, server-dependent security model to afuture-proof, 100% serverless cloud architecture. By deploying intelligent cloud-edge smart hubs designed to leverage and
reuse our existing wiring infrastructure, we will bridge our legacy systems into an agile, cost-effective cloud platform. This
allows us to maximize our previous physical investments while unifying physical door access control and video surveillance
into a single, cohesive pane of glass—creating a safer, more responsive, and more secure environment for both teachers and
students.
Smart Bond | Cost |
|---|---|
Security camera upgrade/software | $509,972.25 |

The district continues to maximize e-rate funding. The current technology budget for 2026-27 is $1,547,100, which includes:
BOCES lease purchase......................... $857,036
