Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year
Now that the 2026-27 school year is underway, I’ve enjoyed getting to know our students, families, faculty, staff, and community members. The excitement and positive momentum that marked the opening of school have carried into a strong start. I am grateful to begin my first year as superintendent alongside such a dedicated community.
The pride, commitment, and sense of belonging here make SGF so special, and there is a shared dedication to helping every student succeed.
Student Success: Our Focus
Student success is our North Star. Through our Portrait of a Bulldog, we define the knowledge, skills, and character traits we want every graduate to embody.
We use this vision to guide curriculum, instruction, learning experiences, and decision-making.
By providing rigorous and meaningful opportunities, and strong support systems, we strive to empower students to become:
Adaptable Problem Solvers: Navigate challenges with resilience and flexibility.
Empathetic Influencers: Lead with empathy, respect, and integrity.
Creative Innovators: Think creatively and embrace new ideas.
Collaborative Learners: Work effectively with others and value diverse perspectives.
Critical Thinkers: Analyze information and make informed decisions.
Responsible Citizens: Contribute positively to their school and community.
Together, these qualities prepare our students for success in beyond graduation.
Stay Connected
As we move through the school year, I encourage you to stay informed and engaged in the life of our district. Strong partnerships between our schools and community help create opportunities for students to learn, grow, and thrive.
There are many ways to stay connected, including the question form on our district website, by phone, and through our district social media channels. We welcome your feedback and ideas as we continue working together to strengthen our schools.
Community members who do not currently have children attending our schools can receive district news and notifications by joining the SGF ParentSquare Community Group. Sign up using our ParentSquare Community Business form.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. It’s going to be a great year to be a Bulldog!
Sincerely,
Dr. Michele Whitley
Superintendent of Schools
