The South Glens Falls Central School District continues to make significant progress on its Envision 2025 Capital Project, which was approved by voters in May 2022. As major components of the project are completed, students, staff, and community members are beginning to see the benefits of the district’s investment in modern, safe, and accessible learning environments.
Among the most publicly visible improvements are the new multi-sport turf field at South Glens Falls High School and the new baseball field and track at Tanglewood. These facilities are already providing student-athletes with high-quality spaces for competition and training while creating additional opportunities for physical education classes and community use. A new parking lot serving the track and baseball complex has also improved accessibility and convenience for students, families, and visitors attending events.
Districtwide improvements also include the installation of new digital outdoor signs at each elementary school, providing a modern and efficient way to share important information with families and the community. In addition, Ballard Elementary now features an updated, ADA-compliant nurse’s suite, creating an improved healthcare space that better serves students and staff.
Significant progress has also been made at Oliver W. Winch Middle School, where renovations have transformed several key areas of the building. Visitors are now welcomed through a newly configured entryway designed to create a more inviting atmosphere while enhancing safety and functionality. The project also included the creation of a new Large Group Instructional (LGI) Room, featuring a floor-level performance space and retractable seating to better support instruction, presentations, performances, and school events.
Additional middle school upgrades include:
A relocated and renovated main office, guidance office, and nurse’s suite that improve accessibility and strengthen secure entry procedures.
Updated library finishes and improved connections to surrounding learning spaces.
Modernized classrooms with new ceilings, lighting, flooring, and whiteboards.
Refurbished gym locker rooms designed to improve functionality and visibility.
A dedicated choral room and expanded band classroom to support music education.
Renovated technology classrooms that create an advanced learning center for students.
Relocated science classrooms to better align academic programming and instructional needs.
“Our Envision 2025 Capital Project represents a long-term investment in our students, staff, and community,” said Superintendent Dr. Michele Whitley. “These improvements provide modern learning environments, enhance safety and accessibility, and create facilities that will serve generations of students for years to come.”
