The Girls’ Winter Retreat has returned to OWWMS!

Dozens of participants pose

Founder of the retreat, Ms. Michelle Leary, retired several years ago. Mrs. Tarello and Mrs. Sutton decided to continue the tradition, after helping Ms. Leary for a few years.

This is a night of activities specifically designed to allow girls a place to invigorate the winter soul, calm and balance the inner self, and let the creative side shine.

The evening started with a break-out session where students could select an activity from the following: yoga, hair-braiding or learning how to knit. Special thanks to our community support with Mrs. Hills leading the yoga instruction, Mrs. Kerry Bruno and some of her BOCES cosmetology students instructing the hair braiding and Tanglewood’s very own, Mrs. Henzel and Mrs. Dalaba knitting up a storm! Four students pose in front of a pick backdrop as an adult takes their picture.

They then re-grouped in the cafeteria and students created their very own sugar cinnamon scrub and had some time taking pictures with friends in our photobooth.

Mrs. Tarello and Mrs. Sutton would like to give special thanks to our support team who included: Mrs. White, Mrs. Klick, Mrs. Ross-Hills, Ms. Brigham and Ms. McFerran! And special thanks to Mr. Porter for our banner for the photo booth.

We are looking forward to this annual event, promoting a healthy, happy community of girls at the middle school!
