The Village of South Glens Falls has issued a Boil Water Advisory beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Oct. 8. This advisory affects the areas served by the village water system, including Harrison Avenue Elementary School, Oliver W. Winch Middle School, and the Transportation Department.

As a result on Friday:

  • Students and staff in those buildings will not have access to water bottle filling stations/drinking fountains in the affected buildings.

  • We encourage all families to please fill water bottles with safe drinking water before arriving at school.

  • Water may still be used for handwashing and general sanitation purposes.

  • Our Food Service Department has implemented appropriate procedures and will continue meal service as normal.

We are currently working on securing additional water bottles for the affected buildings.

Families who reside within the area affected by the village’s advisory should follow all recommended precautions, including boiling tap water for at least one minute before cooling it and using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, preparing infant formula, making ice, or other consumption-related purposes.

For more information on the boil water advisory please see this release from the Village of South Glens Falls.
