Two administrators to be appointed Monday

June 18, 2021

SGF Bulldogs LogoThe South Glens Falls CSD anticipates the board of education will appoint two administrators to new positions at its Monday, June 21, 2021, meeting.

The two positions, director of personnel development and director of counseling/social-emotional learning, were created this spring to help to support district wide staff and initiatives, as well as overall academic and social-emotional programming for students.

South Glens Falls CSD Chief Information Officer and former School Psychologist Flora Covey is expected to be appointed as the district’s new director of personnel development.

“Our district has about 535 full- and part-time staff members who currently have no support from a human resources department. Adding this position will give our staff a centralized place for all job-related information,” said Superintendent of Schools Kristine Orr. “Additionally, Mrs. Covey will be responsible for overseeing the work of creating community schools within the district. Her background will allow us to build partnerships with the community to continue to support our families.”

K-12 Counseling Department Chairperson at the Queensbury Union Free School District Janelle Sipowicz is expected to be appointed as the director of counseling/social-emotional learning.

“Adding this position, which is designed to provide significant support to our students, reinforces our district’s commitment to supporting the social-emotional needs of our learners,” Orr said. “She will be working directly with our school counselors, social workers and other support personnel to improve the support programs we provide to children and families.”

Both positions would be effective July 1, 2021.
