SGFCSD voters approved 2021-22 budget

Your Vote CountsOn May 18, South Glens Falls Central School District residents voted to approve the district’s 2021-22 proposed budget with 605 voting in favor and 199 voting against the $64,311,177 spending plan for the 2021-22 school year. The proposed plan calls for a $4,343,775 increase in spending over the current year’s budget.

“As always, we are grateful for the support of our community as we worked to prepare a budget that was acceptable to taxpayers and maintained programming,” said Superintendent of Schools Kristine Orr. “Thank you, as always, for supporting the students, staff and programming of our district.”

Voters also approved a $601,608 proposition to purchase two 66-passenger school buses, two 72-passenger school buses, one 35-passenger school bus and one four-wheel drive work truck with 597 voting in favor and 207 voting against it.

Finally, three candidates were elected to the board of education. Community members elected Kevin Ostrander (588 votes), John Farrell (543 votes) and Roger Fedele (521 votes) to serve three-year terms, beginning July 1, 2021. Marlene DuBois-Germain received 462 votes.
