SGF students awarded at regional SkillsUSA competition

SGF SkillsUSA winnersFour South Glens Falls High School juniors received individual awards at the March 18, 2015, SkillsUSA Area III Regional Leadership and Skills Championships at Schenectady County Community College and the 109th Air National Guard Base.

The winners include:

  • Elyssa Strassburg, first place in the promotional bulletin board category for cosmetology;
  • Madilyn Jones, second place in the nurse assistant category for health occupations;
  • Blaine Meade, third place in the small engine service category for power sports technology; and
  • Sadie Allen, fourth place in the early childhood education for the early childhood program.

SkillsUSA is a national organization for teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations. SkillsUSA programs include local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills. At the annual national-level SkillsUSA Championships, nearly 6,000 students compete in 99 occupational and leadership skill areas.
