SGF High School’s College Admissions Workshop

South Glens Falls High School will host a College Admissions Workshop tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.

The event will feature a variety of college admissions and financial aid representatives who will be speaking about about the college admissions process. Individuals from SUNY Adirondack, SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Plattsburgh and Siena College. Even if a student is not interested in any of these schools, the night will provide a wealth of information regarding the admissions process that will be valuable for any college application.

Discussion will focus on four topics:

  1. Introduction to Naviance: Family Connection: A general introduction of a web-based resource that assists families with career adnd college planning (i.e. how to conduct a college search and manage the application process).
  2. College Admissions Panel: A “how-to” panel focusing on college admissions: how to access and complete applications, how to approach the college essay, how to set up an on-campus tour or visit, and much more.
  3. Financial Aid Information: An overview of the financial aid process including loans, scholarships and grants.
  4. Transcript Review: An inside look at how college admissions counselors analyze and interpret students’ high school transcripts during the application process.

The counselors will meet individually with every junior to review the information presented at this workshop, as well as graduation requirements. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend this meeting with their child and are encouraged to call the guidance and counseling office to schedule it.
