SGF Bulldog Spotlight: Linda VanTassell

UPK teacher Linda Van Tassell reads to her UPK students,South Glens Falls UPK teacher and bus monitor Linda Van Tassell is being featured in the monthly SGF Bulldog Staff Spotlight. In this monthly feature, employees from around the district are highlighted. Mrs. VanTassell has been a preschool teacher in the community for 30 years and has been working in our UPK program since its inception more than a decade ago.

Name: Linda VanTassell

Position in the district and building where you work: UPK Teacher since the program started in the district. The UPK program is currently at Moreau Elementary School. I am also a part time bus monitor.

How long have you worked in the district? I have been a teacher at South Glens Falls United Methodist Day Nursery School for 35 years. I have worked in in the district since the inception of the UPK program 12 years ago.

What is your favorite aspect of your job? Just working with the children, and so far I’m still having fun!

Why do you believe in the South Glens Falls CSD? I have been part of this community since moving here for college. It is also my husband’s home. He graduated from here, as did my children. Now, my grandson is part of the district.

What do you like to do outside of school? I am very active in my church. I participate in all the music programs there. I also play in the Adirondack Community College Concert Band during the school year and with the Washington County Band during the summer. I am part of a woodwind quintet as well.
