If at any time the district learns that student and/or teacher/principal data has been compromised, parents and guardians will be notified, and the data breach will be reported to the state Education Department. Parents who have concerns or complaints about data privacy or security may file a complaint by contacting the district’s Data Protection Officer Jerilyn Stellato at stellatoj@sgfcsd.org.
Health-Safety-Risk Management
The district contracts with the Capital Region BOCES Health-Safety-Risk Management Service to help provides training, technical assistance and leadership to help schools create and maintain an educational environment that is a model for workplace safety and best practices. The service helps to ensure the district is in compliance with regulatory guidelines and to develop a comprehensive school safety program that minimizes hazards and unsafe practices and is integrated with their daily operations.
Areas of oversight include:
- Regulatory inspections with the Department of Health, Department of Labor, Department of Environmental Conservation
- Mandated training tailored to district needs
- Annual review and update of written programs.
- Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) compliance, asbestos audit preparation, asbestos inspections and management plan review
- Identification of safe and cost-effective chemical disposal methods
- Work with safety committees, five-year building condition survey and New York State Education Department reporting
- Fire safety inspections
- Indoor air quality
- Sampling for air and surface (asbestos, lead, PCBs, radon and more); water (bacterial, chemical, metals, etc.); and soil (pesticides, lead, radon).

School Resources Officer
The South Glens Falls CSD contracts with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department to have a school resource officer work in our schools. The SRO’s job duties include:
- maintaining a presence throughout all the school buildings and proactively working to enhance the quality of life of members of the school community by eliminating safety threats and disorder;
- responding immediately to ensure safety in times of crisis or conflicts and providing follow-up to proactively prevent future problems;
- communicating and collaborating with other law enforcement colleagues to identify and preemptively address potential issues;
- serving as a resource to the school community, including staff, students and their families for collaborative problem solving and the encouragement of information-sharing to increase safety and security in the school and community; and
- making presentations to students, faculty and staff, officials, parents and the community on violence prevention, substance abuse, social conflict, crime prevention, health and safety, conflict resolution, school safety and other related community policing issues.
