July 8, 2019

The South Glens Falls Central School District Board of Education unanimously appointed Robert McGough to the position of Moreau Elementary School principal at a special-called meeting on Thursday, June 27.

McGough had been serving as the assistant principal at Oliver W. Winch Middle School since summer 2018. Prior to becoming assistant principal, McGough spent six years as a classroom teacher at Ballard Elementary School and Oliver W. Winch Middle School. He also taught at Lake Avenue Elementary School in the Saratoga Springs City School District for two years. He will begin at Moreau Elementary School on Aug. 1, 2019.

“We’re looking forward to Rob’s continued leadership in our district, now as a building principal,” said Superintendent of Schools Kristine Orr. “He brings history, a love of the community and a sense of thoughtful leadership to the position. Moreau will be in good hands with him at the helm.”

“I am humbled and honored to be chosen to be the next principal of Moreau Elementary,” McGough said.” The tight-knit community that is Moreau speaks to the pride and dedication of our families, support staff, teachers and students in making our school what it is today. Moreau has amazing things happening and I look forward to being a part of its future.”

McGough has a Master of Science in curriculum & instruction from SUNY Plattsburgh and a Bachelor of Science in childhood education from The College of Saint Rose. He completed his administrative program through Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Rebecca Toleman, who served as Moreau’s principal for the past two years, recently accepted a position as the principal of Stillwater Elementary School. The district is currently conducting a search to fill the assistant principal position at the middle school.
