OWWMS Principal Update

July 23, 2021

Oliver W. Winch Middle School Principal Ray Ruby will be transitioning to be the new Community Schools Liaison effective August 1, 2021. Ruby, who has been the middle school principal for the past three years, will be working to develop partnerships throughout the region that connect all of the district’s schools to local community services.

In addition to being a certified school district administrator, Ruby is a longtime South Glens Falls resident and his knowledge of the community will help him be successful in this role.

We are looking forward to Mr. Ruby’s leadership in this new area for our district and our community. We believe his strong ties to the people of the community as a whole will be a huge asset as he begins to work in this new capacity.”

Jerilyn StellatoJerilyn Stellato will be serving as the interim middle school principal. Stellato is a longtime member of the South Glens Falls faculty. She worked as an elementary school teacher and technology integration specialist for 26 years and has been the district’s director of technology integration and information for three years.

“Mrs. Stellato has been an integral part of our administrative team. She stepped in to fill in as the SGF Virtual School principal for the last school year,” said Superintendent of Schools Kristine Orr. “Given her connection to the district and her experience, I am confident that our students and staff will have a great start to the school year.”

“I am so excited to work with the staff, families and students at Oliver W. Winch Middle School,” Stellato said. “My favorite part of being an educator is working directly with our students and working in the middle school this fall will give me the opportunity to do just that.”

The district is working on creating a recruitment and hiring timeline for the middle school principal position and will announce additional information at the beginning of the school year.
