OWWMS Principal Tim Dawkins selected as district’s next assistant superintendent for curriculum & instruction

Tim DawkinsOliver W. Winch Middle School Principal Tim Dawkins, who has been in the district since 2014, has been selected as the district’s next assistant superintendent for curriculum & instruction.

Dawkins will assume the position July 1, when current Assistant Superintendent Kristine Orr assumes the position of superintendent of schools. Dawkins is expected to be appointed by the board of education at its Monday, June 18, 2018, meeting.

“Tim will bring an incredible vision to the assistant superintendent position,” Orr said. “Not only is he experienced in improving school climate and culture, he is passionate about 21st century digital leadership, and has helped shape this initiative in our district during his time as middle school principal. His expertise and experience as a school counselor will help our district continue its efforts to develop student mental health services and lead a mental health task force in the future.”

Prior to South Glens Falls, Dawkins was the assistant principal at Queensbury High School. He began his career in Queensbury in 2004 as a high school counselor, and later became an assistant principal there in 2012. He is a graduate of Binghamton University, and earned a Master of Science in Counseling/School Counseling from University at Albany. He also received a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from SUNY Plattsburgh.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen to move into this leadership role within the district, and I appreciate and recognize the level of trust that goes along with an opportunity like this,” Dawkins said. “I believe strongly in the good and important work that we do on a daily basis here. I look forward to working side-by-side with Ms. Orr, the leadership team and faculty and staff to provide space for this work to grow and thrive so our students can achieve their goals as they head out into the wider world.”

The district will be starting a search for a middle school principal.
