Michael Hammond appointed assistant principal at Oliver W. Winch Middle School

Mike HammondThe South Glens Falls Central School District will welcome Michael Hammond to a new role as Assistant Principal at Oliver W. Winch Middle School this fall. Hammond was appointed by the SGF Board of Education at its Monday, Aug. 12, 2019 meeting and assumed the position on Aug. 13.

Hammond has been a Social Studies teacher at South Glens Falls High School and has brought a variety of new classes to our students in the 15 years he has been teaching in the district.

“I am beyond grateful to be able to continue to serve the South Glens Falls community as part of the administrative team,” said Hammond. “Everything in our world is comprised of building positive relationships. I am eager to begin forming those relationships with our students, faculty, staff, and community. The opportunity to become a part of the culture of caring at Oliver W. Winch Middle School is very exciting and I cannot wait to connect with our staff and students.”

Hammond will fill the assistant principal role at OWWMS, which is open following Robert McGough’s appointment to principal at Moreau Elementary School.

“We are eagerly looking forward to adding Mr. Hammond to our administrative team at the middle school,” said OWWMS Principal Ray Ruby. “Mr. Hammond’s work as a teacher leader, his coaching work, and his ability to connect with students will make it easier as we continue to work to improve our school and its offerings.”

Hammond received a Bachelor of Arts in History and his Masters of Science in Secondary Education (Social Studies) from UAlbany. He is currently completing his Certificate of Advanced Study in Building Leadership at SUNY Plattsburgh.
