The South Glens Falls Central School District welcomed two new social workers this fall. The new positions were added this year as part of the budget plan voters approved in May 2015.

The social workers, Marcy Ryan and Lisa Catalfamo, are split between the district’s four elementary schools. Ryan spends her time between Tanglewood and Ballard, while Catalfamo spends her time between Harrison and Moreau.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to improve the level of social-emotional support we can offer to our students and their families,” said Superintendent of Schools Michael Patton. “Through early intervention, we hope to support our youngest students’ needs as they grow and develop.”

Ryan said she is looking forward to helping students on the ground level in order to prevent the need for high-level services later in their lives. Catalfamo agreed, saying she hopes to be an asset to the community and the district’s teaching staff, providing support when she can.
