June 19, 2020

SGFCSD LogoSouth Glens Falls CSD Business Manager Audrey Varney is planning to retire at the end of August 2020.

Varney has been the district business manager for 20 years, and oversees the district’s financial operations, as well as transportation, food service, and operations and maintenance.

“I know I can speak for our entire community and board when I thank Audrey for her significant work over the course of two decades for our school district,” said Superintendent of Schools Kristine Orr. “Not only is Audrey an exceptional financial planner who excels in managing our district’s finances, she brings kindness and empathy to the business side of our operations. She will be greatly missed by our entire staff.”

“It has been an honor and privilege to have served with Audrey over the last nine years,” said Board of Education President Bill Elder. “From my first year on the board of education, Audrey took the time to spend with me to help me with the work of the business office and she has always been more than willing to support our board members by answering questions on a range of topics, including our annual school budget, contract negotiations and capital project work.”

The district has selected Kevin Fottrell, the Business Administrator in the New Lebanon Central School District, who is expected to be appointed to the position of assistant superintendent of business by the board of education at the June 22, 2020, board of education meeting. Fottrell will assume the position in August.
