Judge Jeff McCabe,  the Town Justice for the Town of Moreau,  a SGF graduate and the former D.A.R.E. officer, spoke with Ballard students on Monday, Feb. 24. McCabe was invited to Ballard to assist the school as it launched The Ballard Buddy Program.

For the Ballard Buddy Program, every student in the building is paired with another and will provide support and encouragement to their buddy throughout the year. For example, younger buddies will wish bigger buddies luck on the state assessments by writing good luck letters and bigger buddies will provide reading assistance to younger buddies. Judge McCabe spoke with our third, fourth and fifth graders about being a role model and the responsibilities of being a “Big Buddy.” Kindergarten, first and second graders discussed how they can be responsible, respectful, and kind to their “Big Buddies.”

Judge McCabe shared his experiences as a law enforcement officer and Town Judge to assist in providing the students with an understanding of the Core Values associated with Bulldog Pride and how these values are written into the “Buddy Contracts” and the associated responsibilities of our Buddies. We are looking forward to welcoming Judge McCabe back to Ballard at the end of the school year.
