Jerilyn Stellato to be appointed SGFCSD Director of Technology Integration and Information

Jerilyn StellatoJerilyn Stellato will be appointed Director of Technology Integration and Information, previously the District Data Coordinator position, to ensure the district continues to develop educational technology and future-ready classrooms, implement technology-related professional development and information security. Stellato will be appointed at the June 17 board of education meeting and assume the position July 1, 2019.

Stellato has worked in South Glens Falls since 1992. She was an elementary classroom teacher until 2014 and then she assumed the role of math coach until 2016. She has served as the district’s technology integration specialist from July 2016 to the present.

“Taking on this new role will allow me to expand on the work I have been doing with future-ready learning and data privacy,” said Stellato. “I am proud to be part of the vision of the South Glens Falls CSD as we work toward shifting instruction and integrating technology to promote skills that students growing up in the digital age need for success.”

Stellato will also serve as the district’s data privacy officer. In that role she will be responsible for the implementation of the policies and procedures required in Education Law 2-d, a state education law that exists to ensure data security and privacy for educational agencies. A data privacy officer is required in every school district beginning with the 2019-20 school year.

“Safety, which includes data security and student/staff privacy, is our top priority,” said Superintendent of Schools Kristine Orr. “This position will ensure that we are not only fully complying with the new New York State Education Department requirements in this area, it will ensure we remain on the cutting edge of educational technology integration within our district.”

Stellato has a bachelor of science in elementary education and a masters of science in education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. She is slated to receive a certificate of advanced study in school building leadership and school district leadership this summer the same institution.
