Jan. 14: COVID-19 Information

January 14, 2021

Dear SGF Community,

Thank you to those of you who participated in the voluntary COVID-19 testing today, Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, throughout the district.

Today we tested approximately 20% of students and staff at Oliver W. Winch Middle School and Tanglewood Elementary School. The following is a breakdown of the results.

  • Tanglewood Elementary School: 73 tests completed, 0 positives
  • Oliver W. Winch Middle School: 111 tests completed, 0 positives

Our district is not currently in a state-designated microcluster zone that requires COVID-19 testing in schools, but being aware of the positivity rate in our district provides us with the data we need to keep our community safe and our schools open.

We appreciate those of you who participated in this round of testing. Our goal is to keep our schools open for in-person instruction as long as it is safe to do so.

Additional Information

The district also learned today that 1 individual associated with Oliver W. Winch Middle School tested positive for COVID-19.

Given the timing, no contact tracing was required and no one in the district is required to quarantine. The district worked in collaboration with Saratoga County Public Health Services to determine this.

Please note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

If you need to contact the district to share information about a COVID-19 case, you can call at 518-824-2219, email at SGFCovid@sgfcsd.org.
