Jan. 11: COVID-19 Information/HS shifts to remote instruction

January 11, 2021

Dear SGF Community,

The district learned today, Monday, Jan. 11, that several individuals in the district tested positive for COVID-19.

  • Five members of the SGF High School community.
  • A member of the Harrison Ave. Elementary School community who was last in the building on Jan. 4.
  • A member of the Moreau Elementary School community who was last in the building on Jan. 7.

The district is working closely with Saratoga County Public Health Services to perform contact tracing. At this time, all individuals that need to be quarantined have been contacted by someone from school. If you did not receive a call, your child does not have to quarantine.

Due to the number of individuals who are required to quarantine, and in an abundance of caution, the high school will pivot to all remote instruction beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 12, through Monday, Jan. 25. Classes are expected to resume in person on Tuesday, Jan. 26, for the start of the second semester. We will be following the current schedule for instructional days.

BOCES and other off-campus program students can still attend their programming as long as those programs are open. Students who do not drive themselves should contact Mr. Lis about transportation to and from their programming.

While it is always our first priority to maintain in-person instruction, we will be shifting to online instruction because of high school staffing issues and the lack of available substitutes. Moving to online learning will ensure we can continue to teach our students. Our district buildings continue to be safe places, but this is a unique situation.

Please note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

All other buildings will be open for in-person instruction at this time.

Drive-up Testing Reminder

For any parent that would like to have their child tested for COVID and attend the test with them, the district is offering drive-up testing tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 12, from 3:30-7 p.m. at the back parking lot at the high school. There is no appointment necessary.
