Happy New Year!

January 3, 2021

Dear SGF Community,

Happy New Year! I hope you and your families had a safe and healthy holiday recess. As of today, we will be opening all buildings for in-person learning on Monday, Jan. 4.

With the rise in local and county infection rates, we continue to monitor the COVID-19 positive cases that affect our school district on a daily basis. We are preparing to offer voluntary on-site testing in the near future. This data would give us good information about our schools and would assist us in future decision making.

The district learned this past week that 12 individuals associated with our district tested positive for COVID-19.

  • Seven members of the SGF High School community
  • Two members of the Oliver W. Winch Middle School community
  • A member of the Ballard Elementary community
  • Two members of the Tanglewood Elementary community

Given the timing of these cases, no contact tracing was required and no one in the district is required to quarantine. The district worked in collaboration with Saratoga County Public Health Services to determine this.

Please note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

We would encourage our community to work together to practice the safety measures known to stop the spread of COVID-19, including social distancing, wearing a mask, washing your hands and avoiding group gatherings with people outside of your household. If you’d like to review best practices, visit COVID-19 Community Resources

If your child has been placed into quarantine or tests positive for COVID-19, please call the district at 518-824-2219, email at SGFCovid@sgfcsd.org, or fill out this form. Someone will reach out to you.

Please contact me with any questions.
