Dr. Quark comes to Moreau Elementary

September 24, 2021

There are some questions that humankind has struggled for years to answer. Is there life on other planets? What is at the bottom of the Mariana Trench? What happens if a scientist on rollerblades discharges a decommissioned fire extinguisher at Principal Robert McGough?

Luckily for the students of Moreau Elementary, they recently got an answer to the last question thanks to a very special visiting scientist.

Dr. Quinton Quark brought his Slapstick Science presentation to the school on Sept. 23, encouraging students to use their own personal experiences to answer physics questions. He put the focus on Newton’s three laws of motion, with students learning about inertia, force and action. During two different shows, Quark utilized a variety of methods including games and experiments which kept students laughing and engaged.

For the big finish, Quark got McGough involved, having him don a helmet before he strapped on high orange rollerblades. The students roared with delight as their principal was dosed with the extinguisher and Quark was propelled backwards from the force.

The staff and students of Moreau thank everyone at Slapstick Science.
