Three administrators will be appointed to new positions within the South Glens Falls Central School District next month.

  • Ray Ruby will become the principal at Oliver W. Winch Middle School (OWWMS). Ruby, the current assistant principal at the high school, will replace current principal Tim Dawkins who will become the district’s assistant superintendent for curriculum & instruction on July 1.
  • Kyle Lis will assume an 11-month assistant principal at South Glens Falls High School. He will transfer from his current assistant principal position at the middle school.
  • Rob McGough, a grade 6 teacher at OWWMS and administrative intern, will become the assistant principal at the middle school.

“I am excited to announce these new leadership team decisions to our community,” said Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Kristine Orr, who will become Superintendent of Schools on July 1. “I’m thrilled that we are promoting leaders from within our own district. Being able to develop strong educators is an important part of ensuring excellent and experienced teachers and administrators for our students.”

Ruby has been the assistant principal at the high school since the 2014-15 school year. Prior to working in South Glens Falls, he was the assistant principal at Mayfield Junior-Senior High School. He has been an educator since 1994 and has also worked as a high school math teacher, curriculum coordinator, educational technologist, and was the executive director at the Eastern New York Regional School Support Center.

He is a graduate of Castleton State College, and received a Master of Science in natural sciences/mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He later received a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership and administration from The College of Saint Rose.

“I am honored to be selected to work with the students, staff and families of Oliver W. Winch Middle School,” Ruby said. “It is exciting to expand my role as a leader in a school with such a proud history and an even brighter future. I know our new administrative team will hit the ground running and with enthusiasm.”

McGough has been completing an administrative internship at OWWMS for the past year, and will be completing his certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in July. He has been a teacher in the district since 2008 at both Ballard Elementary School and OWWMS.

He has a Master of Science in curriculum & instruction from SUNY Plattsburgh and a Bachelor of Science in childhood education from The College of Saint Rose.

The district will be conducting a search for a 12-month assistant principal position at SGFHS and expects to appoint someone for the position at the August board of education meeting.

Ruby, Lis and McGough are expected to be appointed to the positions at the July 9, 2018, board of education meeting and they will be effective July 10.
