Community to elect two board of education members

Community members will elect two individuals to serve three-year terms on the Board of Education, beginning July 1. The candidates are listed in alphabetical order. All board of education members are volunteers.

John B. Farrell

John FarrellJohn B. Farrell is running for his third term on the school board. He is a graduate of Glens Falls High School, and he holds an Associate of Arts degree from Adirondack Community College. Farrell has a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from SUNY Potsdam and a Master of Science in education from SUNY Plattsburgh. He is currently the assistant director of residential development and operations at Warren Washington Association for Mental Health. When his children were attending school in South Glens Falls, Farrell was active in the Home School Association and middle school Teen Towns. He has coached soccer, baseball and softball, and has served in various leadership roles with South Glens Falls Girls Softball, including vice president and president. Farrell is a member of the Moreau Recreation Commission. Farrell and his wife, Sharon, have two children who are graduates of South Glens Falls High School.

Kevin Ostrander

Kevin OstranderKevin Ostrander is running for his fourth term on the school board. Ostrander is a 1970 graduate of South Glens Falls High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from Empire State College in 2001. He is currently retired. Ostrander and his wife, Nancy, have three children who are all graduates of South Glens Falls High School.
