Community Conversation to be held Feb. 26

February 13, 2014

The South Glens Falls Central School District will host a community conversation at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Middle School LGI, to hear feedback from the community as the district develops its budget for the 2014-15 school year. Community members will be given the opportunity to talk about the potential changes and reductions under consideration. The district will also use this opportunity to gather additional feedback on the building study scenarios that were presented to the community in January.

All community stakeholders will also be encouraged to help the school district with our advocacy efforts to speak up now, on behalf of our students and schools, for additional school aid. South Glens Falls is expected to lose over $2.5 million dollars to the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) based on the Governor’s Executive Budget.

“I am asking for your full support in writing letters and making phone calls to our elected leaders asking that funding lost due to the GEA be fully restored this year,” said Superintendent of Schools Michael Patton. “Eliminating the GEA would prevent further sacrifices and allow South Glens Falls to continue to offer our students high quality programs and services.”
