Community advisory committee to present capital project recommendations to board of education

July 8, 2015

The South Glens Falls Community Capital Project Advisory Committee will present its final report and recommendations to the board of education at the board’s Monday, July 13 meeting. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the SGF High School LGI.

The committee, which represented a cross-section of the community, including community members, parents, students, teachers, support staff, administrators and four BOE representatives, has been meeting since April to study the district’s best methods for protecting the community’s long-term investment in the school facilities by considering the advancement of instructional programs, building renovation and maintenance needs, safety and security, district-wide technology and the use of alternative energy.

“It has been several months in the making, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the project advisory committee recommends,” said Superintendent of Schools Michael Patton. “Their report will be invaluable for the board of education as it finalizes the scope of a potential capital project.”

Committee members used last year’s district enrollment and district building study outcomes, a recent building condition study by district architects, and work done over the course of the past year by a group of district stakeholders, as guides for the planning process.
