Scott O’Donnell

Scott O’Donnell is one of the finest athletes in South High history. A standout in football, baseball, basketball and track and field, he is regarded as one of the best all-around football player this area has ever produced. An all-star quarterback and free safety and first-team All-State selection as a senior, Scott also handled the punting, kickoff and placekicking duties.

He went on to play on a full scholarship at Penn State for legendary coach Joe Paterno. A “five-tool” player in baseball, he was scouted heavily in his junior and senior years and likely would have been drafted very high had he not already committed to Penn State. In track, he held the school record in the 100-yard dash and made it to the state finals as a senior.
Now general manager for Riverside Logistics in Virginia, Scott continues to be an ambassador for South High, and is fondly remembered by many for his athletic accomplishments and his good-hearted, humble demeanor.
