The South Glens Falls Central School District Board of Education, Saratoga County, New York, met in Regular Session on Monday, December 14, 2020, via remote video conference.

Call to Order:
President Elder called the meeting to order at 6:38 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

PRESENTATIONS:

COVID19 Update
All current information is available on the district website. Ms. Orr discussed the recent change to virtual instruction at the high school. She also explained how each case presents unique challenges and thanked all district nurses for their efforts working with parents and staff. The district has not been named a state yellow zone yet. Testing has been planned if the district is notified. Board Meetings will be held remotely until case numbers go down to reduce contact and keep buildings open.

Capital Project 2021
Mr. McMordie updated members on additional capital projects planned for this summer due to cost savings from the project. Examples include high school stair tower work, lighting, building ceiling and floor updates, elementary school playground replacements, and additional parking spaces at Moreau. Work will start at Tanglewood in April or May 2021 and continue through the fall.

Code of Conduct
Mr. Dawkins thanked the Policy Committee for their work on this 49 page document reflecting the values of the district. A link will be posted on the web page for any public comment prior to its adoption January 19, 2020. Mr. Dawkins is available for questions.

Ms. Currie and Ms. Farrell reported on student events in all district schools.

Board President Informational Items:
Mr. Elder wished everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

Superintendent of Schools Informational Items:
Ms. Orr updated members on the Fort Edward Merger Study. The next Advisory Committee Meeting will be held virtually at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020. A link will be provided on the district website.
Ms. Orr reiterated the district use of three words: Patience, Flexibility and Grace in keeping buildings open and district students learning during COVID 19.

Assistant Superintendent Information Item
Mr. Dawkins discussed the first Quarter of the TASC Program which is in its second year at the High School. Under the direction of Mr. Bolesh, four students passed the exam in November, received their diplomas and can participate at graduation in June. Three additional students have passed part of the exam and have the opportunity to retake separate sections. Mr. Dawkins expressed his appreciation for this program and dedication of Mr. Bolesh in opening doors for this group of students.

Board of Education Discussion:
Dr. Dawson thanked district staff for their efforts on behalf of the students during this time of challenge. Mr. Farrell expressed his appreciation for the video presented to staff on COVID. Mr. Fedele thanked the administration and staff for their efforts and a special thanks to Mr. Spada for his technology work. Mrs. Hogan thanked the district for its excellent communication. Mr. Ostrander congratulated the staff for its student instruction efforts. Mr. Riggi thanked the district for its communication and keeping students safe and learning.
