Regular Meeting – April 1, 2019

The South Glens Falls Central School District Board of Education, Saratoga County, New York, met in regular session on Monday, April 1, 2019, at the High School, 42 Merritt Road, South Glens Falls, New York.

Call to Order:
Vice President Farrell called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m., led the Pledge of Allegiance and advised everyone that the meeting was being audio-recorded.

Members Present:
Roger Fedele, John Farrell, Lisa Hogan, Thomas Kurtz, Kevin Ostrander and Jeff Riggi

Absent: William Elder, Christine Dawson, Nelson Charron

District Officials Present:
District Officials present were Kristine Orr, Superintendent of Schools, Timothy Dawkins, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and Audrey Varney, Business Manager and District Clerk.

Others Present: Guest Roster on file

PRESENTATION: 2018 – 2019 Budget Update
Ms. Orr and Mrs. Varney presented on the General Fund Working Budget Draft #7.

E. Stipulation of Settlement
Home of the Good Shepherd v. Town of Moreau

WHEREAS, the Church Aid of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Town of Saratoga Springs, Inc. d/b/a Home of the Good Shepherd (Petitioner) has petitioned the New York State Supreme Court in Article 7 proceedings covering assessment years 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and the South Glens Falls Central School District has filed Limited Notices of Appearance in connection with each such Article 7 proceeding; and

WHEREAS, the Petitioner and the Town of Moreau have agreed to settle such proceedings upon terms of settlement set forth in the proposed Stipulation and Order of Settlement presented to this Board; and

WHEREAS, the South Glens Falls Central School District has been asked to approve such proposed settlement upon the terms set forth in the proposed Stipulation and Order of Settlement, now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, that the South Glens Falls Central School District hereby approves such settlement and authorizes the School District’s Attorney H. Wayne Judge, Esq., to sign any and all documents on behalf of the School District in connection with such settlement.

Motion by Mr. Kurtz second by Mr. Ostrander an unanimously carried 6/0 approved Consent Item J.

J. Request for Medical Leave of Absence
Linda Tucker, Cleaner, Moreau Elementary School, granted medical leave for up to 12 weeks.

Public Forum #2: None

Board Discussion: Members expressed sympathy in the loss of Board President Elder’s Brother-In-Law.

Adjournment to Executive Session to discuss personnel and litigation
Motion by Mr. Ostrander second by Mr. Riggi and unanimously carried 6/0 adjourned the meeting to Executive Session at 7:08 p.m.

Return to Open Session
Motion by Mr. Ostrander second by Mr. Riggi and unanimously carried 6/0 returned the meeting to Open Session at 7:40 p.m.

Adjournment
Motion by Mr. Riggi second by Mr. Ostrander and unanimously carried 6/0 adjourned the meeting at 7:41 p.m.
