The South Glens Falls Central School District will soon begin its search for a new South High principal and is asking the public to take part.

Parents and guardians, community members and students are invited to fill out a ThoughtExchange questionnaire to help the district determine the most important skills, experiences and characteristics that our ideal candidate should demonstrate and possess. To provide feedback, please click this link.

You’ll be asked to respond to open-ended questions, consider and assign stars to some of the ideas shared by others and learn what’s important to the group.

Your thoughts and stars are confidential. You can come back as often as you’d like to participate and, in fact, we ask that you do come back to star some of the new ideas shared since you first participated. The ratings will help us understand the most important areas to focus on.

The district is also putting together a hiring committee that will include staff, students, parents and guardians and community members. To join, please complete this Google form to get on the list of interested members. We will release information about the committee's makeup in the coming weeks. A committee timeline and other information will follow as we get closer to the end of the current school year.

“Community involvement in our hiring process for a principal helps ensure our selection meets the needs of our community, staff, families and, most importantly, students,” said Superintendent Kristine Orr. “I hope you will join us by taking the survey and possibly by joining our selection committee.”

South High’s current principal, Peter A. Mody III, recently announced that he will be leaving the district at the end of the 2022-23 school year to return to teaching full-time at the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District. Orr said the district  would like to have a new South High principal in place by mid-July to give that individual time to prepare for the start of the 2023-24 school year.
