South Glens Falls High School Principal Peter A. Mody III has announced he will be leaving the South Glens Falls Central School District at the end of the 2022-23 school year.

Mody, who has been a principal at South Glens Falls High School since 2017-18, is leaving South Glens Falls to return to teaching full-time at the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District.

“No matter where I go and what I do for the rest of my life, my time as a Bulldog will be marked by the number of people I have built wonderful relationships and memories with. It will have an indelible mark on me as an educator and as a human being. I cannot imagine being the educator I am without having spent the time I have with all of you. And the hardest part of all of this will be no longer seeing all of you each and every day. I look forward to finishing another successful year and celebrating the accomplishments of our students,” Mody said.

While at South Glens Falls, Mr. Mody oversaw the introduction of a Restorative Justice program and Mediation Matters. Under him, the graduation rate was a major focus, along with introducing new programs for all students, including various club activities.

He also started the yearly senior breakfast event at the elementary schools to celebrate our graduates where their SGF journey began.

“Serving as your principal during a major building project and into and through a global pandemic has allowed me to face some of the most challenging moments of my career and, as such, I feel fortunate that I could show up each day giving my very best to try to steward this ship back to its safe harbor right alongside you. For that experience and for those who routinely showed me kindness and support, I will be forever grateful.

The district will begin to look for a replacement in early June.

“Pete Mody has been an outstanding and invaluable member of our team here at South Glens Falls Central School District. He has been instrumental in helping shape many programs at our high school that are indispensable to our students,” said Superintendent Kristine Orr. “While we are sad to see him leave his administrative position, we wish Mr. Mody nothing but the best in his return to educating future leaders.”

Prior to joining SGF, Mody was the high school assistant principal at Queensbury High School and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School beginning in 2013.

Preceding his career as an administrator, Mody was a social studies and English teacher at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and Ballston Spa high schools for a total of 12 years (six years in each district). He graduated from Union College in June 1998 and later received a Master of Arts in Teaching (English) from Union College. He completed his Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership in 2012 at the State University at Plattsburgh.

"It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the principal of South Glens Falls High School. I am so very proud to have been associated with this community and so many wonderful people. I look forward to finishing another strong school year and to celebrating our wonderful students, faculty, and staff each step of the way."
