A Message from Superintendent Kristine Orr for parents

December 16, 2021

Dear SGF Parents and Caregivers:
Yesterday, we were alerted to TikTok photos, which have been circulating in schools in our area and around the country. The images are said to be associated with school shootings or a school shooting day. The photos have been referred to Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo and the New York state police. Both agencies said they had noted the uptick in these types of postings since the Oxford High School tragedy. At this time, there is no evidence that these postings are related to our school district, or in fact, any district in the area. We will continue to work with these law enforcement agencies on any next steps they advise us to take.

We are asking that you talk with your children about the critical importance of sharing any information that they might have about any potential threats against our students, staff, or schools; any troubling behaviors being displayed by their friends and schoolmates; or any observations that they make of things that “just aren’t right” about what they see in their school. I know parents and students can sometimes have concerns about appearing to be overreacting when reporting concerning issues. When it comes to the safety of our students, staff, and community, we assure you that telling us your concerns is never overreacting.

Should you receive any information about this that you believe requires immediate action, call 911 to report it. If you have information that you believe we should be aware of, please get in touch with your child’s building principal or me as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will continue to keep you updated with any information that we receive.
Thank you,
Kristine Orr
Superintendent of Schools
South Glens Falls CSD
