High school Key Club members attend leadership training conference

Key Club students attend a conference.On Friday, March 31, Marlies Amberger, Maria Aitcheson, Danielle Greco, Sabrina Sleasman and Brianna Willette, along with Key Club Adviser, Susan Moore-Palumbo, headed to the Desmond Hotel in Albany to attend a three-day New York District Key Club Leadership Training Conference.

Marlies is the newly elected Lieutenant Governor for N.Y. Division 15, and is responsible for supporting and growing the clubs within his or her division and serving as a liaison between the New York district and the club. The rest of the young women attending the conference are the newly elected officers for South High’s Key Club. Maria will serve as the club President; Brianna, Secretary; Danielle, Treasurer; and Sabrina, Editor. Hannah Cantz is the new Vice President but was unable to attend the conference.

At the conference, the South Glens Falls students joined 800 other Key Club students from around New York State, attending workshops on leadership, service and club management. They also listened to speakers, attended caucus sessions, elected statewide officers and made connections with students throughout the region. The students returned to South High energized to start a new Key Club year.

Key Club is an international service organization and is the high school arm of Kiwanis International. The Leadership Training Conference, which is open to any club members, is held annually.
