March 31, 2017

Harrison Elementary School Principal Joe Palmer will be leaving Harrison Elementary School and the South Glens Falls Central School District at the end of the 2016-17 school year.

Palmer, who has been a principal at Harrison Elementary School since June 2004, is leaving South Glens Falls for the position of assistant director of planning and accountability in the Schenectady City Schools.

“Harrison Avenue has been a vibrant, exciting place where we have implemented so many initiatives and prepared all of our children to be good students and good citizens,” Palmer wrote in a letter to Harrison Avenue Elementary School parents and students. “This is an exceptional school that will continue to exemplify the very best in education while always putting children first.”

The district expects to have a new principal in place by July 1, 2017.

“Mr. Palmer has been an outstanding leader for our school community over the past 13 years,” said Superintendent of Schools Michael Patton, Ed.D. “He has worked tirelessly to make sure all students learn to the best of their abilities, as well as ensuring a positive school climate. Joe has been instrumental in developing our district Bulldog Pride Core Values that influence character development that will serve students throughout their lives.”
